電子書籍で英語多読!! Macmillan ReadersをKindleで読もう☆

今回のブログはMacmillan Readersという多読本シリーズの紹介です。
Oxford BookwormsやCambridge English Readersなど、英語の多読本にはたくさんのシリーズがあります。その中でも特に文学好きの方にオススメしたいシリーズが、Macmillan Readersです。
Macmillan Readersシリーズは、作品を理解するための基本単語が300語のStarterレベルから、2200語のUpperレベルまで、難易度が6段階に分類されています。そのうちAmazonのKindleストアで電子書籍化されている作品は110冊（2015年5月18日現在）。スマートフォンやタブレット端末を使って、自分の英語レベルに合った多読本を楽しむことができます。
Macmillan Readersには世界的に有名な文学作品を、多読用にリライトした書籍が多くラインナップされています。有名な作品ではあるけど、ありきたりな作品チョイスではないところがポイントです。代表的なものをいくつか見てみましょう。
イギリス小説だとディケンズの『二都物語』。
アメリカ小説だとメルヴィルの『白鯨』。
デュマの『三銃士』など、フランス小説もあります。
他にもコナン・ドイルの場合も、最も有名な『シャーロック・ホームズ』シリーズではなく、『ロスト・ワールド』が選ばれている点や、スウィフトの『ガリバー旅行記』の小人の国編だけを一冊に収めている点（おそらく内容が薄くなり過ぎないように）など、作品の選別にこだわりが感じられます。
「好きな作家の小説で楽しく英語を学びたい」「より重厚でおもしろいストーリーで多読をしたい」といった方に、Macmillan Readersシリーズはオススメです。もちろん、ミステリーやアドベンチャー、ラブストーリーなど気軽に楽しめるテーマの作品も数多くラインナップされています。多読も読書の一貫なので、物語を楽しむということも大切ですね。
