電子書籍で英語多読!! Oxford BookwormsをKindleで読もう☆

英語の表現や語彙を増やす手段の一つに、洋書の「多読」があります。できるだけたくさんの本を読む多読では、「簡単に読めるものから読み始める」・「自分の英語レベルに合った本を選ぶ」ということが大切です。
そんな英語の多読に便利なのが、Graded Readersという英語学習者向けに作られた洋書のシリーズです。Graded Readersの本は難易度別に分かれていて、レベルが上がるほど文章中で使われる単語や文法も難しくなっていきます。その中から、読者は自分の英語力に適した本を選ぶことができます。
Graded Readersを使った多読では辞書は使わず、あくまで楽しみながら、語彙力や英語を読むスピードを身につけることを目標にしましょう。
電子版Oxford Bookwormsを使った多読
前回のブログでもご紹介しましたが、英語の多読には電子書籍が便利です。
多読用にたくさんの本を購入した場合も、電子書籍だったら保管場所に悩むこともなく、どこでも気軽に英語学習をすることができます。シリーズ本で続きが気になった時もすぐに購入でき、端末内で直接分からない単語の辞書を引いたり、書籍にメモやブックマークを入れたりすることもできます。
ただ残念ながら、現時点では前述したGraded Readersのシリーズはすべてが電子書籍化されているわけではなく、Amazonで検索しても紙の本として販売されているものが多いです。
Graded Readersの中でも、Oxford Bookwormsシリーズは約150冊の書籍が電子版でリリースされています。
Oxford Bookwormsは基本単語が約250語のStartersから、基本単語約2500語のStage6まで、7段階のレベルに分かれているため、自分に合った読書をしながら行う英語学習に最適です。「シャーロック・ホームズの冒険」や「オズの魔法使い」などの名作も数多くラインナップされています。
英語の多読に興味がある方、まずはこのOxford Bookwormsから学習を始めてみるのはいかがでしょうか？

Oxford BookwormsのKindle版に、英語音声つきのバージョンも発売開始されました。下記のキャプチャ内にある音声再生ボタンをおすことで音声を再生できます。なお、音声ファイルは電子書籍内に埋め込まれているので、ネット接続の無い環境でも再生可能です。
音声再生として、Kindle Fire系のタブレット端末に搭載されている自動音声読み上げ機能があるのですが、このOxford Bookwormsの音声ではそれよりも自然な英語を聞くことができます。きちんと抑揚のついた英語で朗読してくれるので、多読をより楽しむことが可能です。ただ、通常の音声なしのバージョンより300円ほど値段が高くなってしまうので、お財布に余裕のある方はぜひチェックしてみてくださいね！
なお英語音声つきのバージョンがあるタイトルについては下記のリストでは、「With Audioはこちら」と記載してあります。
